LEGO IDEAS® Officially Reveals 21325 Medieval Blacksmith

LEGO Ideas® is a smash-hit theme that’s seen a lot of success over the last thirteen years, and there’s no reason to believe that trend is slowing.

For the first set of 2021, the LEGO Group has unveiled 21325 Medieval Blacksmith! This is the final version of the original project, submitted by LEGO Ideas® user Namirob. There was some significant divergence from the original submission, but just like last years Barracuda Bay, I like to believe the changes have created a more… LEGO build, rather than a MOC.

Also following in the tradition of Barracuda Bay, this set is not a small one. It comes with a total of 2,164 pieces and is priced at US$149.99.

The set will be released on February 1, 2021 and will be available online and at LEGO stores.

A look at the blacksmith.

Honestly, the size and price of this set make it a top pick for me in February. I can see folks coming from far and near to get help at the local blacksmith, and I can’t wait to find a place where I can put it on display in my home… which is problematic these days!

The minifigures.

The set will include two knights, an archer, the blacksmith, and both a horse and dog. I’m not too sure about the husky, but I suppose even forest heroes need pets.

The design aesthetic of the set hits home with me, taking me right back to RPGs that I played as a child. This home, nestled in the woods, ready to service anyone’s tools or weapons as they make their way through the larger world…

The stuff LEGO creates seems to instantly tickle the imagination of almost anyone out there, and I see this happening here. While we’re used to seeing space, ghosts, and plenty of cars, there’s been a real lack of fantasy in the LEGO world, and I have a sneaking suspicion that’s about the change.

Look at that tree!

This year has already had a strong start with the LEGO Ninjago City Gardens, and the Spring Festival sets, so seeing this next big hit right out of the gate really makes me wonder what the LEGO Group has in store for us in the next few months!

Thanks everyone for reading along as I branch in this new direction. I’m playing a bit of catchup, as the year started stronger than I anticipated, but the news cycle should become more regular moving forward!

Hey, by the way, if you frequent social media and want to reach out to me there, you can look for me on Instagram or Twitter. I don’t have much of a presence, but I’d be happy to answer any questions!
