The fourth day of the LEGO Advent event has arrived and I’m very excited to see what the calendars have in store for us. I am putting a lot of pressure on the LEGO Friends calendar to deliver today. All the others have given us some microscale builds and cool minifigures, but Emma is still hoping to have something fun to take notes about next to her fireplace…
Let’s see what we got today…
LEGO City – Volvo Articulated Hauler
We’ve got another microscale build!!! This time it’s 42114: 6×6 Volvo Articulated Hauler.
I don’t think I’ve bought any Technic sets… well… maybe a couple pull-back racers for my daughter and I to use, but nothing to the size or scale of the massive Technic sets that they release each year.
Most of them are vehicles, and I don’t get many vehicles, unless they’re the scale that fits in my little town!
At 20 pieces, it’s a fun little build, and my daughter was quick to play with it.
2020 microscale build. 2020 full-sized build.
LEGO Star Wars – Luke Skywalker Minifigure
Today we got a new Minifigure! Luke Skywalker, with his fancy binoculars. He has two expressions, mildly entertained and “my uncle is gonna kill me”. He had better find that droid or he will be in big trouble!
I’m always happy to add a new figure to the collection, even if I don’t have many other Star Wars figures. I won’t lie though, based on the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, I had hoped he was going to be holding some blue milk!
LEGO Harry Potter – Beauxbatons Carriage
Another cool microscale build today. It looks to be in the theme of the Yule Ball.
I have to give credit to the Harry Potter calendar. I know we are just a few days in, but I feel like I’m being given a story.
Our first day was Harry dressed for the ball. Then we saw the castle, and now we have seen the other schools coming to attend.
I hope they maintain this trajectory for the entire month!
The carriage has about 18 pieces, and it’s a good microscale of the 2019 full-sized set 75958: Beauxbatons’ Carriage: Arrival at Hogwarts.
LEGO Friends – Rumble the Hamster
Okay. This is getting a little ridiculous.
4 pieces. Only 2 of them actually connect. Our daughter wasn’t disappointed, she just saw another thing to open, but since there wasn’t anything to do this morning with her own calendar, she ended up playing with the truck and carriage.
I honestly have to say, this seems silly. I’m going to be honest here. I’ve seen a lot of the recent LEGO Friends: Girls on a Mission cartoon. I’m fully aware that Olivia is the one with a hamster. Emma has a cat. So, like, they weren’t even bothered to include the right animal friend.
Star Wars has microscale ships and houses, and two minifigures, and over here… Emma has a table and a hamster.
Today was a letdown on the Friends front. I hope it gets better tomorrow, because at this rate the next box will just have a 1×1 tile…
